JULAU: Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat says there is a lot of catching up to do in all aspects of development in his constituency.

“My main vision and mission as an elected representative is to prosper my area and the people who put me in the position,” he stressed.

He told a leader-meet-the-people session at Rumah Sandai, Sengaih near here yesterday that he would look into the well- being of the 13,000 voters in Meluan.

His immediate focus was to get all the basic infrastructure facilities in place in the shortest period possible.

He believed the area would be able to see progress in the next few years with the annual allocation of RM5 million under the Rural Transformation Programme ( RTP) and the RM1 million under the minor rural project ( MRP) apart from a fair share of other development projects planned by both the state and federal governments.

“We have been talking about lack of basic infrastructure for too long already. It’s time to put an end to the topic and start talking about something much better,” he said.

He expressed his gratitude for the solid support from local residents during the last state election.

He also advised the poor to register under e-kasih programme at the District Office in order to be considered for various welfare assistance.

At the function, Rolland announced a grant of RM10,000 for the longhouse and RM2,000 for its Women Committee.

Tuai Rumah Sandai Unau, in his welcoming speech, hoped the government would deliver basic infrastructure and utilities like road, electricity supply and treated water to the village.
