Belawai beach fishing, colouring competition soon
SIBU: The 5th Shimano Belawai Beach Fishing Competition organised by the Sibu Fishing Club ( SFC) will be held on Sept 18 together with a colouring competition as a sideline event.
SFC chairman Ting Hua Sing told reporters yesterday that entry forms are available from Suria Trading Company at Pedada Road here. Closing date for the fishing competition registration is Sept 13 and gifts are in store for early birds.
“The first 150 to register will get a free T- shirt and those who register as the 151st participant onwards will get a free cap,” he said.
The competition is also coorganised by Belawai Rando Club and supported by Oft Pancing S/ B while the main sponsor for the event is Shimano ( S) Pte Ltd.
The registration fee is as follows: RM20 (club members), RM35 (non-members) and RM50 ( late registration).
The competition is divided into Category A ( participants who use Shimano products) and Category B (open to all).
“Those using Shimano’s product (rod and/or reel) will get additional prizes from Shimano,” Ting said.
The Category A winners will receive the following: Pa Fliegen TD Thick (champion), Ultegra 14000XSC (first runner-up) and Speedcast 8000XSA (second runner-up) plus a Vengeance Surf S425CXI each.
Other prizes in Category A are: Activecast 1120 and Forcemaster Surf 450BXG (fourth placing), Activecast 1120 and Vengeance surf 425cxh (fifth placing) and a Vengeance surf 425cxh (sixth to 10th placing).
For Category B, the top three winners will take home RM1,000, RM600, and RM300 respectively while the fourth placing until the 10th placing will each bag RM100.
All 10 Category B winners will also get a trophy each.
Meanwhile, the 3rd Belawai Colouring Competition for children aged 12 and below will be featured as a sideline event at the beach on that day.
Participation is free of charge and the closing date for registration is Sept 14.
The competition is divided into Group A (aged 6 – 9), Group B (aged 10 – 12) and Open (aged 12 and below).
Groups A and B are for children from Belawai while the Open Category is for children from Sibu.
“The top 10 winners in each category will take home a trophy and a hamper each,” Ting said, adding that all participants must bring a photocopy of their MyKad or birth certificate.
Meanwhile, Belawai district officer Udin Bujang will officiate at the opening of the event while the Assistant Minister for Workforce Development and Training Datu Len Talif Salleh will officiate at the closing.
