150 pupils from 25 primary schools attend UPSR smart camp at Dalat

DALAT: A total of 150 pupils from 25 primary schools in Dalat attended a UPSR smart camp held at SK Kampung Tanam, Dalat last weekend.

The camp aimed to motivate weaker pupils in their preparation for the UPSR.

It was also held to improve selfdiscipline, instill the spirit of unity among the pupils of different races and provide tips on how to answer UPSR questions.

Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah said the camp was targeted at pupils who were at the borderline in their academic performance.

“This programme focuses on motivation, subject matters and examination skills,” she pointed out.

She said programme was important as it addressed weaker students to help them achieve good results and going through a meaningful school life.

“We want those who are in the weaker end of the learning spectrum who thought that they are not as bright to realise that the school, the parents, and the community really care about them.

“We want them to feel that they are also important, that attention is also given to them,” she said.

The programme was jointly organised by Dalat Education Office, N56 Dalat Service Centre and Dalat Education Foundation.

Most of the pupils said they enjoyed the programme because they could make new friends, get to sleep outdoor in the tents, learn examination skills and, best of all, the camp made them feel special.
