-

BINTULU: The Bintulu 4x4 Club has been praised for their efforts and swift response in distributing relief assistance to the fire victims in Long Urun, Belaga.

The 27- door Uma Badeng Asmidy Agau longhouse was razed to the ground in May. The Bintulu 4x4 Club was the first club that arrived to provide help and deliver foods to the fire victims.

Twenty-eight four-wheel-drive vehicles (4WDs) were involved in delivering the essential goods to the fire victims. One of the fire victims, Kenneth Seling Bato, recently drove three and a half hours to Bintulu on behalf of the other Long Urun fire victims with the purpose of extending their appreciation to Bintulu 4x4 Club. Kenneth, who is also a club member, said the fire victims were very grateful for the assistance provided.

“I feel great being one of the club members. When my longhouse burnt down, many club members turned up to assist us,” he said.

He added he had joined the right club. The club has been very active in carrying out charity works with Hope Place Kuching, especially in helping poor and less fortunate families in rural areas. At the same time,

Kenneth thanked all donors including local elected representatives, government agencies, non- government organisations and various individuals for their assistance. For those who are interested to join the club, call its president Tie Sing Ung at 019- 8243876 or vice-president Mancha Seliman at 019- 4991251.
