Charity golf tourney organiser hands over proceeds to Rh Jalak, Rh Charles
MIRI: The Society of Petroleum Engineers(SPE) SarawakSection has donated the proceeds from its fund-raising golf tournament to residents of the two longhouses here, which were destroyed by fire recently.
The first donation of RM8,000 went to Rumah Jalak Kusau, while Rumah Charles Egat Mat received RM5,000.
SPE Sarawak chairman Danny Soo presented the donations to Kaban Group of Professionals Association Miri president Cornelius Kawat, who accepted it on behalf of Rumah Jalak; and Robert Mat, who is the brother of longhouse chieftain Charles Egat Mat.
Meanwhile, partners Dr Thomas Cheu and Edward Lau emerged champion of the ‘Gross’ category at NC3-SPE Golf Classic charity tournament at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club here last recently.
In the Nett (Partners) category, placing second runner-up were Yusri Mohd and Mohd Othman, while the pairs of Irwan SuhailiKennedy Narok and Ahmad Muzammil-Azral Affendy were the third and fourth runners-up, respectively.
The winner of the ‘ Ring of Fire’ category was Abdul Karim Ibrahim who scored at Hole 18, while the winners of the ‘Longest Drive’ category were Jawan Kiroh ( Hole 6) and Alwalid Ibrahim (Hole 10). In the ‘Nearest to Line’ category, the winners were Mohd Zulhaizan ( Hole 7) and Daniel Punang ( Hole 11).
Winners of the ‘Nearest to Pin’ category were Kennedy Narok ( Hole 3; three feet), Othman Marhaban ( Hole 8; nine feet, 10 inches), Mudin Epoi ( Hole 13; four feet, three inches) and Dr Cheu ( Hole 17; 20 feet).
