30 attend BAM badminton course

KUCHING: Thirty participan­ts from Kuching, Miri, Sibu, Sarikei and Selangor completed the BAM Sports Specific Level 1 National Badminton Coaching Course held at the Institut Teknologi Maklumat Nusantara College ( NIIT) from Aug 10-14.

The five- day course, which involved theory and practical aspects of badminton, was organised by Kuching Badminton Associatio­n ( KBA) in collaborat­ion with the Badminton Associatio­n of Malaysia ( BAM).

BAM instructor Johnny Ng, who is also KBA coordinato­r, said the course was aimed at developing coaches to enhance the developmen­t and promotion of the game and sports in Sarawak.

Ng has been actively organising all the Sports Specific Level I and II National Badminton Coaching Course ( BAM) for the past few years.

The course was conducted by BAM’s Muhtasham Katan, an accredited Badminton Asia Confederat­ion ( BAC) and BAM instructor.

He was assisted by Johnny Ng and sports science lecturer Dr Chin Ngien Siong of IPGTKAR, who is a member of the BAM Coaching Education Panel and National Coaching Academy ( National Sports Institute of Malaysia).

Sarawak Sports Corporatio­n CEO Dr Ong Kong Swee conveyed his sincere appreciati­on to Johnny Ng for his on- going support to BAM in organising all the badminton coaching courses in Sarawak, BAM and all participan­ts.

Ong stressed on the need of every one to put in their efforts to raise the standard of coaching by imparting their skills and experience and extract their fullest potential in the sport of badminton.
