‘Tarzan’ gives garage workers a fright

-

SIBU: A man said to act like Tarzan – the fictional character raised by apes in Africa – gave garage workers at Ek Dee Road a scare twice on Monday.

According to them, the man – who walked and acted like an ape in the jungle area behind the workshop – first appeared from the jungle at 4.15pm and was spotted by two workers.

The frightened workers quickly called for their colleagues and the commotion apparently drove ‘Tarzan’ back into the jungle.

Two hours later, fellow worker David Chang was looking out of his bedroom window on the first floor when he spotted ‘ Tarzan’ in the jungle.

According to Chang, the man indeed acted and behaved like an ape.

“We were scared of the sightings. We are not sure whether he will attack. Two dogs in the garage have gone missing after the sightings. One was found in the jungle shortly later, while the other is still missing,” he said.

Chang said they had informed the garage owner and the owner then lodged a police report on Monday night.

He added that ‘ Tarzan’ was shirtless and seemed to be covered with white cloth from the waist down.

According to Chang, the garage has been operating at the site for more than two decades and the two sightings of ‘Tarzan’ were the only strange encounters workers have experienced.

When contacted, Sibu deputy police chief Supt Martin Koo confirmed police had received a report on the sightings.

“We are calling in the witnesses to record their statements. The report did mention a dog had gone missing after the sighting,” he said.

Koo added the police could not comment further until they had recorded the statements of the witnesses.
