Rural primary schools in Limbang target excellent UPSR results
LIMBANG: Seven rural primary schools in Zone E of this district are targeting for excellent results in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah ( UPSR) to be held next month.
Zone E Schools Board chairman Meripa Geluko is confident that although being in the rural areas with limited educational infrastructure, students of these schools are capable of doing well in the examination.
“Two of the schools are (categorised) under Band 1 ( high performing schools), while the rest are under Band 2 and 3 (average performing schools). None (are under) low-performing categories such as Band 6 and 7.
“With the various initiatives including UPSR clinics conducted by schools here, the students are well-prepared to answer UPSR questions this year,” he said in his opening remarks at the Bahasa Melayu UPSR Clinic in SK Nanga Medamit yesterday.
Adding on, Meripa said School Improvement Specialist Coach ( SISC) for Bahasa Melayu Dr Usang Ngrambang shared with the students on techniques of answering UPSR under the new examination format.
In his remarks, Dr Usang said for excellent results, all students must prepare themselves across all aspects – physical, mental and spiritual – so that they would be focused in the examinations.
The four- day Bahasa Melayu UPSR Clinic was attended by 85 Primary 6 pupils and eight teachers as facilitators.
Meanwhile, SK Nanga Medamit headmaster Sampai Saka said the clinic was vital as it played a key role when it came to the final preparations for UPSR.
“Based on the mock exam results, there had been an improvement in the students’ performance. I hope that they would maintain or improve further on such performance in the coming UPSR,” he said.
