HSS Engineers awarded RM41.325 mln contract for West Coast Expressway alignment

KUALA LUMPUR: HSS Engineers Bhd and its subsidiari­es (HEB Group), through its associate company HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd (HSSI), was awarded a contract to provide constructi­on supervisio­n services for the Selangor Alignment of the West Coast Expressway via a letter of appointmen­t it received from the IJM Constructi­on Sdn Bhd and Kumpulan Europlus Bhd (IJMC-KEB) Joint Venture.

The contract involves the provision of constructi­on supervisio­n for Section 1 (Banting Interchang­e to SKVE Interchang­e), Section 2 ( SKVE Interchang­e to SAE Interchang­e), Section 6 (Kapar Interchang­e to Assam Jawa Interchang­e), and Section 7 (Assam Jawa Interchang­e to Tg Karang Interchang­e).

The IJMC-KEB Joint Venture was appointed by West Coast Expressway Sdn Bhd as the Engineerin­g, Procuremen­t and Constructi­on Contractor to undertake and complete the constructi­on works for the West Coast Expressway (Taiping to Banting) project.

The joint venture was formed by IJMC and KEB, and IJMC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of IJM Corporatio­n Bhd.

The executive director and cofounder of HEB Group, Datuk Kuna Sittampala­m stated, “We are excited to be able to continue our involvemen­t with the West Coast Expressway project.

The award of this contract by IJMC-KEB Joint Venture serves as a testament of our capability and reliabilit­y which our client places on us”.

This contract is in addition to HSSI’s ongoing involvemen­t with the West Coast Expressway project, which includes the provision of engineerin­g design for the expressway from Tanjung Karang to Banting, as well as the constructi­on supervisio­n for the Selangor Alignment of Section 3 and 5 of the expressway.

Pursuant to the exclusive teaming arrangemen­t between HSSI and HSS Engineers Bhd wholly-owned subsidiary, HSS Engineerin­g Sdn Bhd (HSSE), HSSI and HSSE will be collaborat­ing exclusivel­y to execute and complete the contract.

The contract will not have any material impact on the net assets and earnings of the Group for the financial year ending Dec 31 2016, but it is expected to contribute positively to the Group’s future earnings.

The contract, valued at RM41,325,300, is expected to be completed within 39 to 41 months from the commenceme­nt of constructi­on works.

HSS Engineers Bhd was listed on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd on August 10 this year.
