D&Y Textile targets export sales of RM1 billion in FY2019

KULAI: D&Y Textile ( Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of a China- based textile group, is aiming for export sales of RM1 billion in the financial year ending Dec 31, 2019.

Director/General Manager Steven Cheng said sales would be driven by the second and third phases of the company’s factory operation in the next two years.

“Current ly, our expor t sales stands at about RM220 million, which only consists of yarns.

“With the second and third phases, we hope to increase it to RM1 billion,” he told reporters after visiting the company’s factory in Sedenak Industrial Park yesterday.

Also visiting the factory was Internatio­nal Trade and Industry Deputy Minister, Datuk Ahmad Maslan.

Cheng said the second phase of expansion would see an increase in yarn spindles from the current 1,000 to 1,200 by end- 2017.

“At present, we are also producing about 1,50 0 to 1,600 tonnes cot ton yarns monthly, which translates into a total product ion of 20 million kilograms of yarns annually.

“With additional capacity, we hope to increase production by 20 per cent more,” he added.

Cheng said for the third phase, the company is looking at initially producing jeans under its label, as well as contract manufactur­ing.

“This phase is expected to be completed by mid-2018.

“For second and third phases, we will be investing RM500 million.

“For the first, we invested about RM300 mi l lion,” he added.

At present, D& Y Text i le employs 483 workers, and is looking to increase the workforce in the second and third phases of operation. — Bernama
