S’wak Entertaine­rs Night returns next month

KUCHING: The sixth edition of the Sarawak Entertaine­rs Night will be held on Sept 9 starting from 9pm at Lido Star.

The event themed ‘ The Sixth’ is dedicated to showcasing and promoting local music and performing arts.

Its founder Leslie Tnay said that the event is a platform for local artists to gather and share their expertise and knowledge in their respective fields.

“It is a show for all Sarawakian­s as we want to showcase the talents that we have here. We have singers, bands and dancers from various races,” he said during in a press conference held at iCube Innovation, Icom Square here on Monday.

He added that through such events, artists will have the chance to express different ideas from various genres apart from getting to know each other

This year’s event will feature performers such as Aldrich Heavance, Asyraf Hardy, Beatbox Ricky, Camille, Charlyn Daring ft Atas Pokok, DJ Chaca, DJ Cheryse, DJ Lyte, DJ Ice Cream, Drumcall, Jolynn J Chin, The Readers, Kenwy Yang Qin Ensemble, La Danse Studio, Pete Kallang, Mc Peterus and Rambo, SLaP! and Vicil.

“We welcome all to come support and make the event a success,” Tnay said, adding that the free event would be concert- style, with no long breaks between performanc­es.

Meanwhile, Conqueror’s Vision Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Patrick Liew said that he fully supported the programme.

“I congratula­te Leslie and his team for the effort in helping our entertainm­ent industry to be made known to others. I think that this is good for our society where we can bring the youth together to showcase their talents and a platform for them to excel in their areas.

“Anything of such nature I will always support.

“As such, with the facilities and the network in place, we will assist them and promote their activities as well as provide them with support to attract more people to their function and event while encouragin­g and motivating them to achieve better results in future.”

He noted that through such event the element of innovation and entreprene­urship developmen­t could be implemente­d to expand the local entertainm­ent industry which could be commercial­ised in future to promote local acts and culture.

Also present was Conqueror’s Vision Sdn Bhd event manager Clara Liew and Sarawak Entertaine­rs Night 6 volunteer Mc Peterus.
