Teras will always be pro-BN — Capt Zainuddin

-

KUCHING: Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak ( Teras) will forever be pro-Barisan Nasional ( BN) even if it is not accepted into the BN fold.

It was a true- blue BN-friendly party before the May 7 state election and will be so after its members regroup, starting with a solidarity dinner in Sibu on Aug 27.

Its vice president Capt Zainuddin Hamdan said this yesterday following the announcement by state BN chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem that the party he leads, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB), is giving former Teras president Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom time to decide on his future.

Mawan, the Pakan assemblyman, is now partyless after resigning from Teras before the May 7 state election to enable him to contest as a direct BN candidate.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Adenan said PBB had accepted “in principle” five partyless assemblypersons - Rosey Yunus ( Bekenu), Paulus Palu Gumbang ( Batu Danau), Dato Gerawat Gala ( Mulu), Miro Simuh ( Serembu) and John Ilus (Bukit Semuja) - into the BN backbone party.

Zainuddin went on to say Teras had invited Mawan and the five partyless assemblypersons into Teras, and expressed confidence that Mawan will be given the honour to lead Teras again.

Teras has 26,000 registered members holding Teras membership card and another 4,000 without such card to date.

They are from 27 registered divisions all over Sarawak.
