Heriot-Watt University Malaysia to hold Open Day on Aug 27 and 28

-

KUCHING: Heriot-Watt University Malaysia ( HeriotWatt) will hold an Open Day at its Putrajaya campus on Aug 27 and 28.

As a leader in industry-linked research, the university has a long- standing track record of providing quality education.

This has led it to garner a number of accolades through the years, including being placed 38th out of 127 institutions in the UK and fifth in Scotland according to the Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016.

Additionally, the university was also ranked 46th in the world for most international university by Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016.

Heriot-Watt has grown and expanded over the years, and currently operates out of five campuses; three in the UK and two international campuses in Dubai and Malaysia respectively.

Located in Precinct 5, Putrajaya, Heriot-Watt’s Malaysian campus offers students access to top-notch British education at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Its offerings at the foundation levels includes Foundation in Science and Foundation in Business, with the latter offering an Actuarial Science route as well.

Paul Birly is pursuing the university’s Foundation in Science programme which he described as a programme that puts him on a faster track than other preuniversity programmes.

“Foundation programme allows me to develop the necessary skills by concentrating on specific subjects, preparing for a smooth transition into my degree studies,” said the former student of SMK Pengiran Omar II, Sipitang, Sabah.

The university’s multiple campuses provide students with ample campus transfer options, giving them the chance to have an international study experience.

While this option was previously only available for the university’s undergraduate students, HeriotWatt now allows students who have completed their foundation studies at the university to transfer directly to the UK; thus kick- starting their international study experience.

What’s more, since the same syllabus is used in all of HeriotWatt’s campuses, the same teaching standard is maintained, and thus students need not worry about falling behind upon transferring campuses.

This aligns with the university’s vision to be a truly global university.

“I chose Heriot-Watt to begin my university education because Heriot-Watt is well recognised for their quality programmes and teaching. Moreover, Heriot-Watt offers optional transition to Dubai and UK campuses easily,” Paul said.

With plans to further his studies in Mechanical Engineering, Paul is sure that he has chosen the right launching pad for a successful career.

“Heriot-Watt strongly emphasises independent learning, starting from the foundation programme. This has taught me a valuable lesson; that if you want to achieve success, you must put in the extra effort.

“For students just beginning their university journey, it is crucial to learn meaningfully, and this is exactly what HeriotWatt emphasises through its programmes. What’s more, the courses provide just enough of a challenge for students to grow, which is necessary for their development,” he added.
