Categories for the Fashion Awards 2016 revealed
THE BRITISH Fashion Council ( BFC) has revealed the award categories for the Fashion Awards 2016, as voting goes live for the prestigious ceremony.
The awards will be divided into British and International sections, with the first comprising British Menswear Designer of the Year, British Womenswear Designer of the Year, British Brand, and Emerging Talent Award. Awards open to both UK and international talent include Model of the Year, Ready-to-Wear Designer of the Year, Accessories Designer of the Year, Urban Luxury, Fashion Icon, Creative Influencer, and Business Leader.
Additional international special recognition awards include an Outstanding Achievement Award, the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, a Special Recognition Award and the Swarovski Award for Positive Change. A Fashion Icon award will be voted on by the public.
Held annually in London, the Fashion Awards has become one of the most important dates in the fashion calendar, celebrating the best of the industry’s talent, as voted for by an international panel of 1,500 industry influencers including media, retailers, CEOs and creatives.
Last year’s big winners included the designer Tom Ford, who won the “Red Carpet” category, Jourdan Dunn, who took home the trophy in the “model” category, and the fashion mogul Karl Lagerfeld, who was presented with the gong for “Outstanding Achievement”.
