KUCHING: The Human Resources Development Fund ( HRDF) will celebrate 300 housewives and single mothers for their commitment towards upskilling and reskilling during its inaugural Housewives Enhancement and Reactivate Talent Scheme ( Hearts) convocation today (Sept 29) at Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

Hearts is a programme introduced and managed by HRDF since the year 2013 which is held in high esteem at HRDF. Participation has benefits for its target group, in particular allowing them to carry on as housewives or homemakers while continuing to be actively employed in jobs which are matched to their needs, according to a statement from HRDF.

HRDF, which is under the purview of the federal Ministry of Human Resources, will invite its minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem to officiate at the convocation which starts at 8am.

Riot who is the Serian MP is expected to also launch the Hearts Crowdsourcing portal and Mobile App and present certificates of appreciation to Hearts ambassadors and Hearts graduates.

HRDF is aiming to bridge Malaysia’s gender gap and develop the nation’s women talents.

Among HRDF’s initiatives are to increase the percentage of employable women participating in the Malaysian labour market from 46 to 55 per cent as well as to develop a skilled Malaysian workforce to enable the country to achieve high income status by 2020.
