-

FOR THE second- generation Fortuner, Toyota designers have opted for something more pleasing on the eyes.

The vehicle now sports autolevelling full LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, halogen fog lamps with chrome accents, which lends the new model a sleeker and sportier appearance.

It is also more aerodynamic and more stable at high speeds. Wind noise has been markedly reduced.

The cabin has been given fullleather upholstery and features such as an eight-inch touchscreen DVD player with smartphone and WiFi connectivity, internet browser, voice recognition, HDMI input, USB and Bluetooth connectivity as well as GPS navigation.

It is powered by a newlydeveloped 2.4-litre turbodiesel or a proven 2.7-litre petrol engine. Both models are paired to a sixspeed automatic transmission with sequential shifters that drive all four wheels.

Both variants come with a 4WD transfer dial that allows drivers to switch from 2WD to 4WD on the fly with a twist of the dial. The Fortuner 2.7 SRZ’s naturally- aspirated petrol engine dishes out 164hp with 245 Nm of torque.

The new model also come with a stronger chassis frame and bodyshell for improved rigidity and safety. Active and passive safety features of the new vehicle include ABS, Active Traction Control (A-TRC) which maximises traction on challenging terrain or surfaces and three-point auto-retracting seatbelts for every occupant. The Fortuner 2.7 SRZ offers a total of seven airbags, which includes three front SRS airbags and four additional airbags at the outer of the front seats and over the windows.
