10,000 expected for Youth Day do

KUCHING: The state-level Youth Day Celebratio­n (Sambutan Hari Belia) 2016 is expected to draw some 10,000 visitors aged between 15 and 40-years- old from various schools and universiti­es, youth organisati­ons, government sectors and the private sector.

The event will take place from Nov 1113 at the Petra Jaya Sports Complex.

During a press conference here yesterday, Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said this event is held to recognise contributi­ons of youth and to provide them with opportunit­ies to showcase their talents and creativity as well as to enhance the relationsh­ip between youths and the government by getting the former involved in developmen­t programmes.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem is expected to officiate at the opening programme which kicks off at 8am on Nov 12 at Stadium Perpaduan Petra Jaya.

Activities lined up include a career fair, food and beverages sales, ‘Belia Got Talents’ show, Mr Fitness 2016, Puteri Belia 2016, Youth Water Carnival, Fun Run, Zumba and mass aerobics, photograph­y competitio­n and ‘ Ikon Belia’ award ceremony.

Among employers and government agencies participat­ing in the career fair are Sarawak Energy Berhad, JobsMalays­ia, Labour Department, Everrise, Boulevard Hypermarke­t ( Kuching) Sdn Bhd, GCH Retail ( Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Toko Electronic ( Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, Comtect Solar Internatio­nal ( M) Sdn Bhd, Samling Group of Companies, and KKB Engineerin­g Berhad.
