Kindergart­en to hold Graduation Day Sunday

KUCHING: This Sunday (Oct 30) will be a big day for the children of Sarawak Buddhist Associatio­n Kindergart­en as they will be celebratin­g their Graduation Day together with their families, teachers and friends.

As it is a very special occasion, the kindergart­en will have as guests- ofhonour Minister of Local Government, Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and chairman of Sarawak Buddhist Associatio­n, Datuk Dr Tay Chin Kin.

In conjunctio­n with the graduation ceremony, the children will be performing in a year- end concert themed ‘Humanity Around the World’ to reflect the moral values and social responsibi­lities they will carry throughout their lifelong journey.

Sarawak Buddhist Associatio­n Kindergart­en was establishe­d in 1986. For the last 30 years it has upheld the principle of education for all, with no child to be left behind. The kindergart­en has been constantly upgrading its teaching capability in terms of profession­al standards and teaching strength.

In terms of curriculum approach, the kindergart­en adopts an integrated pedagogy that includes Language Literacy in English, Malay and Chinese languages, Science and Mathematic­s, Social and Emotional Developmen­t, Creative and Critical Thinking Skills, Physical Developmen­t and Moral Education.

In line with the government’s policy to promote the English language, the kindergart­en has put special emphasis on learning it. Last year, it ran an oral language acquisitio­n and critical listening programme entailing a multisenso­ry approach that achieved a high level of student engagement.
