PPD Kanowit celebrates 1,000 teachers, education staff
SIBU: It was a glamorous event for about 1,000 teachers and education staff from Kanowit District Education Office ( PPD) when they had their ‘Appreciation Night’ on Friday at a hotel here.
The event themed ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ saw male teachers showing up in suits and ties while the ladies wore their evening best.
PPD Kanowit celebrated the teachers and non-teaching staff for their achievements throughout the year.
Another reason for the celebration was that PPD Kanowit had climbed from 23rd to sixth place among all PPDs in the state for this year’s Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah ( UPSR) – the results of which were announced last week.
Meanwhile, Kanowit MP Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang who was the event’s guest- of-honour congratulated the teachers and education staff for their many achievements.
“You have proved that with a good, hardworking attitude, you can achieve outstanding results,” he said.
Machan assemblyman Allan Siden Gramong who spoke earlier thanked the teachers for their support and guidance.
He said without teachers, he would not be who he is today.
There was also a video tribute to former Machan assemblyman Datuk Gramong Juna who had contributed much to education development in Kanowit.
Allan received a token of appreciation from PPD Kanowit officer Malsiah Jamal on behalf of his father.
The VIP guests also presented appreciation certificates to teachers and non-teaching staff who performed well this year.
