PPKS, iCATS open registration for 2017 first-batch intake
MIRI: The Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS) and the International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS) here are opening registration for their Jan 9 intake next year.
Holders of Form 3 Assessment ( PT3) certificate, Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia ( SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia ( STPM) can apply online for courses at these two institutions via www.ppks. edu.my.
Alternatively, they can visit the PPKS / i- CATS office at Block 1, MCLD at Shell Road in Lutong here.
“They are reminded to bring along photocopies of their birth certificate, Mykad, PT3 / SPM / STPM result slips and schoolleaving certificates, as well as at least three passport-sized photos of themselves,” said a PPKS spokesperson.
The enrolment is open for the Malaysian Skills Certificate ( SKM) courses in mechatronics, electronics industry, electricity, computer systems and office management, as well as programmes covering the Certificate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the Business and Technology Education Council ( BTEC) Higher National Diploma ( HND) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Diploma in Business Administration and Diploma in Plantation Management.
‘Those who have sat for PT3, SPM or STPM and have proficiency in reading, writing and arithmetic are eligible for the SKM courses.
“For the Certificate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, applicants must pass their SPM with credit in any subject and a pass in Mathematics. For the BTEC HND in Electrical Engineering / Electronics, the applicants must pass STPM with at least Grade C in one subject, and SPM with credit in Mathematics and Science.
“For Diploma in Business Administration, it is open for SPM holders who obtained three credits in any subject while for the Diploma in Plantation Management, the eligibility is a pass in SPM with three credits in any subject including the science subjects,” the spokesperson said.
This year’s SPM students can also apply for the PPKS / iCATS January intake by presenting their SPM trial’s results.
