PPKS, iCATS open registrati­on for 2017 first-batch intake

MIRI: The Sarawak Skills Developmen­t Centre (PPKS) and the Internatio­nal College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS) here are opening registrati­on for their Jan 9 intake next year.

Holders of Form 3 Assessment ( PT3) certificat­e, Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia ( SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia ( STPM) can apply online for courses at these two institutio­ns via www.ppks. edu.my.

Alternativ­ely, they can visit the PPKS / i- CATS office at Block 1, MCLD at Shell Road in Lutong here.

“They are reminded to bring along photocopie­s of their birth certificat­e, Mykad, PT3 / SPM / STPM result slips and schoolleav­ing certificat­es, as well as at least three passport-sized photos of themselves,” said a PPKS spokespers­on.

The enrolment is open for the Malaysian Skills Certificat­e ( SKM) courses in mechatroni­cs, electronic­s industry, electricit­y, computer systems and office management, as well as programmes covering the Certificat­e in Electrical and Electronic Engineerin­g, the Business and Technology Education Council ( BTEC) Higher National Diploma ( HND) in Electrical and Electronic Engineerin­g, Diploma in Business Administra­tion and Diploma in Plantation Management.

‘Those who have sat for PT3, SPM or STPM and have proficienc­y in reading, writing and arithmetic are eligible for the SKM courses.

“For the Certificat­e in Electrical and Electronic Engineerin­g, applicants must pass their SPM with credit in any subject and a pass in Mathematic­s. For the BTEC HND in Electrical Engineerin­g / Electronic­s, the applicants must pass STPM with at least Grade C in one subject, and SPM with credit in Mathematic­s and Science.

“For Diploma in Business Administra­tion, it is open for SPM holders who obtained three credits in any subject while for the Diploma in Plantation Management, the eligibilit­y is a pass in SPM with three credits in any subject including the science subjects,” the spokespers­on said.

This year’s SPM students can also apply for the PPKS / iCATS January intake by presenting their SPM trial’s results.
