‘Expand 3R campaigns to government agencies, local councils’
LIMBANG: The 3R ( Reduce, Re-use and Recycle) campaign which contributes to a greener environment should be expanded beyond communities to government agencies and local councils.
Limbang Hospital deputy director Dr Sathiapriya Padmanathan said this would raise motivation among target groups in encouraging environment conservation and reducing waste management costs.
“The 3R programmes organised help to raise greater awareness of the importance of the three elements in reducing waste and it would be more effective with participation of government departments and agencies in a more holistic approach.”
She said this during the launch of Limbang Hospital’s 3R campaign on Monday.
Dr Sathiapriya said the campaign was aimed at inculcating greater public awareness of the benefits of recycling and encouraging people to adopt 3R as a daily routine.
“This campaign will also help participants develop a sense of responsibility towards our environment while collectively contributing to the 3R programme in Limbang,” she said.
The ceremony was also attended by Cr Affzuandi Musiv, Limbang District Council ( LDC) chairman of licensing, enforcement and public health and his deputy, Cr John Wong, LDC’s 3R coordinator Cr Daniel Taha, other councillors and hospital staff.
