Two-day Christmas event in Kapit Town Square starts today

KAPIT: All are welcome to participat­e in the various activities lined up in conjunctio­n with the Christmas Concert at Kapit Town Square from Dec 2-3.

Planned activities include a recording by Radio Television Malaysia ( RTM) Sarawak of children celebratin­g Christmas in Kapit on Dec 2 which will be broadcast on TV at a later date; a mass aerobic exercise followed by ‘Jelajah SibuFM’ on the morning of Dec 3; and a rehearsal for the concert in the afternoon.

The event is organised by the Kapit Resident Office in collaborat­ion with RTM Sarawak and is sponsored by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing who is also the Minister of Infrastruc­ture Developmen­t and Transporta­tion.

Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Developmen­t, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi is expected to officiate at the Christmas Concert which will feature six Iban recording artistes and a comedian to entertain the crowd.

Organising chairman Kapit Resident Joseph Belayong recently thanked the various government agencies for supporting the event.

The concert, amongst others, aims to enhance rapport between state, federal government agencies and RTM Sarawak through the smart partnershi­p concept in organising activities for the benefit of the people, as well as to provide entertainm­ent and disseminat­e informatio­n to the local community.

It is also to recognise and show appreciati­on to the diverse ethnic groups in Kapit for their continuous support towards RTM while at the same time, heeding the government’s call towards achieving the respective government agencies’ Key Performanc­e Index ( KPI).
