Join the fun activities at Tatau Festival 2016

BINTULU: A range of activities have been lined up for all age groups at the upcoming Tatau Festival 2016 to be held at Tatau Sports Centre from 8am to 11pm on Dec 3 to 4.

The festival is expected to be officiated at 10.30am on Dec 3 by Kakus assemblyma­n Datuk John Sikie Tayai who is also Assistant Minister of Native Laws and Customs and Assistant Minister of Arts and Culture.

Prior to the opening ceremony, two activities namely Chinese Singing Contest and Futsal Competitio­n would have been held at Tatau Teo Chew Associatio­n office and the futsal court respective­ly.

Among activities lined up are zumba ( Dec 3 & 4, 6 .30am- 8am at Tatau Sports Centre); prawn fishing contest ( Dec 3, 7am- 8.30am at a wharf opposite Tatau Shell Station); archery demonstrat­ion (Dec 3, 7.30am-1pm at the compound near Tatau Sports Centre); bike decorating contest ( Dec 3 & 4, 8am- 5pm at Tatau Sports Centre) and children colouring contest ( Dec 3, 8am-10am at Tatau Sports Centre).

Other activities are fancy dress contest ( Dec 3, 2.30pm- 5pm at Tatau Sports Centre); hashtone run ( Dec 3, 4pm at Tatau Sports Centre); teh tarik contest ( Dec 4, 8am-1pm); cooking contest ( Dec 4, 8am-1pm); flower decorating contest ( Dec 4, 8am-1pm) and Iban karaoke session (2pm- 5pm).

Traditiona­l sports such as tug- of-war, gudi, petanque, egg throwing, coconut bowling, sack race and numerous other activities will also be held from 9am to5pm.

There will be stage performanc­es at the 2- day festival including singing performanc­e, Pekit Kumang Tatau Fest, Chinese singing show and cultural dance at Tatau Sports Centre from 6.30pm to 11pm.

Several government agencies, private sector, financial institutio­n, nongovernm­ental organisati­ons and higher learning institutio­ns will be setting up exhibition booths at the festival from 8am to 5pm.

The festival was jointly organised by Bintulu Developmen­t Authority, Tatau District Office and Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
