SEMATAN: The government will continue to provide quality services to the people in the rural areas by bringing various government departments and agencies to them.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem said the move would provide more convenience to the people in the rural areas who were sometimes faced with various problems when they wanted to seek the services from government departments and agencies.

Speaking at the launching of a Mobile Community Transformation Centre (Mobile CTC), here yesterday, Adenan pointed out that like Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) which are found in cities and big towns in the state, the Mobile CTC would mobilise various departments and agencies to provide services to the rural areas.

“It is the government’s desire to give convenience and allow the people in the rural areas to get the services from the various departments and agencies, and for this reason we will continue with the programme of bringing the Mobile CTC to rural areas,” Adenan said in his text of speech read by Assistant Minister for Industrial Development (Investment and Promotion) Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

Adenan stressed that although the government has set up Rural Transformation Centres (RTC) to provide government services, he acknowledged that such facility could not meet the needs of the people, especially those in remote areas.

The chief minister also said the Mobile CTC, an initiative under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) was meant to meet the target group, besides becoming a platform for greater interaction with the staff manning the Mobile CTC. The initiative, Adenan said was also to enable the people to know and understand the services provided by different government departments and agencies.

Meanwhile, Julaihi, who is also Assistant Minister for Rural Economy (Coastal Areas) and Fisheries, said the Mobile CTC was also in line with the government’s go rural policy.

“A programmes like this (Mobile CTC) indicates the real desire of the government to transform the rural areas,” he said. Among the services under the Mobile CTC are health services, dental and welfate assistance.
