Online movie ‘Blue Tears’ targets over 650 mln internet users in China

-

MIRI: Shooting of an online movie ‘Blue Tears’ targetting over 650 million internet users in China will start next week.

The actors from China are expected to arrive here on Dec 5.

In a press conference held here yesterday, chairman of Global China Film (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Oliver Yong said shooting would commence on Dec 6 at Miri Marriot Hotel’s poolside.

Sarawak deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Openg is expected to officiate at the event.

“The main actor in this movie is from China, while the leading actress is local from Miri,” he said.

The production of the movie which costs over RM3 million is expected to further boost the tourism industry in Sarawak, in particular Miri with several scenes in the movie to be shot at Tusan beach, Mulu National Park, Niah Cave and the city.

Yong noted that Miri is developing at a pace behind Kota Kinabalu in Sabah and other states in the Peninsula.

“We are a bit slow, but with all the effort the state government is putting in to help the industry, we believe that we will be on par with other states in terms of tourism in the near future.

“In fact, we are honoured that the state government through Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) is willing to assist us in realising this movie with the objective of attracting more tourists from China,” Yong added.

When asked the duration of the shooting, Yong said it would take three to four months.

“If all goes smoothly, we expect the shooting of this online movie would finish by early March next year.

“It would then be available by end of March, both online and in cinemas,” he told.

On another note, Yong said the public are welcome to witness the commencement of the shooting on Tuesday.

Lucky draw tickets will be given to the first 500 people.

“We have prepared 30 lucky draw prizes but tickets are only given to the first 500 people to attend the event on Tuesday,” he said.

The movie is a Malaysia-China joint production by Global China Film (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and The Global Business Club (China).
