In Pasir Mas, a check by Bernama found traders in Rantau Panjang moving their goods to higher shelves in preparation for floods.

Retailer, Lim Cheng Seng, 57, said he had to take such precautions after learning that the level of Sungai Golok was rising.

“My shop is just 20 metres from Sungai Golok. I am afraid that the river may burst its banks all of a sudden and I would be unable to save my goods,” he said.
