Teen collared after absconding with parent’s cash

MIRI: Police arrested a 15 yearold teenage boy last Saturday after he had gone missing with his parent’s cash amounting to RM2,000 since Dec 5.

The incident unfolded after the juvenile came to Sibu police station around 1am on Saturday claiming that he was assaulted by someone. Sibu police personnel then contacted the boy’s parent in Permyjaya Miri.

It was during this conversati­on (with the police personnel from Sibu) that the boy’s father had told them to arrest him (the boy) as he had stolen cash amounting RM2,000 from the parents.

Ever since the incident on Dec 5, the boy was on the run and went to Sibu with some friendsspe­nding the stolen cash at entertainm­ent outlets until his arrest on Saturday.

The juvenile has been remanded for three days pending investigat­ions.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, police has arrested a 29-year- old man for allegedly assaulting his 25 year- old wife at their house at Taman Futee, Riam on Friday night.

It is learnt that the suspect had run amok by waving a ‘Samurai’ sword, accusing his wife of having an affair with another man.

The suspect then allegedly punched and kicked his wife before fleeing the scene. Following the incident, the wife lodged a police report which led to the arrest.
