Community policing body receives 6 new motorbikes from Tay Motors

-

KUCHING: The Sarawak Community Policing Association ( SCPA) can now enhance its patrolling, thanks to six new motorcycles donated by Tay Motors.

The presentation of the machines took place at the company’s premises in Mile 7 Bazaar near here yesterday.

Tay Motors director Aaron Tay handed the motorcycles over to SCPA chairman Datuk John Lau Pang Heng, witnessed by Padawan District police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan.

According to Lau, the donation – a part of Tay Motors’ corporate social responsibility ( CSR) programmes – would help the association tremendously.

“There are limited resources in terms of logistics for SCPA. Many members have been using their own vehicles to conduct patrols in their respective areas.

“We thank Tay Motors for supporting SCPA’s efforts in fighting crime,” he told reporters here.

Lau also stressed that SCPA had always been committed in helping to prevent crime activities across the city and also in areas across Padawan, adding that its members had been very active.

“We have 55 units of community policing established at housing estates across Kuching. The crime prevention patrols are conducted daily basis, with every unit comprising at least 12 patrollers.”

On another matter, Lau called on every member of the community to continue working hand-in-hand with SCPA and also police.

“SCPA is committed to working with police in serving the community and also fighting crimes. With everybody supporting this cause, I think the community would be safer than before,” he said.
