Spend your Christmas in the longhouse – Dennis

-

MIRI: Telang Usan constituents residing in towns are urged to make an effort to head back to their respective longhouses this coming Christmas.

In making this call, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said longhouse folk from the constituency should visit their respective longhouses during this festive season.

“Many young ones in our community have moved from their respective longhouses to live in towns. Because of work commitments, many were unable to find time to go back to their longhouses.

“And since we celebrate Christmas once a year, I would like to call for all the constituents to celebrate in their respective longhouses” yesterday.

Dennis said parents who are working in towns should also make an effort to let their children feel the Christmas atmosphere in the longhouses so they could identify their roots and culture.

The assemblyman also called on all constituents regardless of their political differences to remain he said here united and pray for Telang Usan.

“We must not be divided despite our differences. Let us together pray for our constituency for God’s intervention to enable all the planning by the government to materialise in the New Year.

“It is our hope that Telang Usan will be developed in many ways, especially for infrastructure and public amenities,” he said.

On another note, Dennis urged those doing Christmas shopping to spend wisely and celebrate in moderation.

“I would also like to remind those going to their respective longhouses to drive carefully especially on the logging roads.

“The weather is unpredictable, so be careful when driving in the rain,” he said.
