SMK Kuching High, SJK Taman Rajang wushu tournament champs

SIBU: SMK Kuching High and SJK Taman Rajang, Sibu topped the secondary and primary school competitions at the 26th Sarawak Wushu Championship that ended at the Sibu Indoor Stadium along Jalan Airport Lama yesterday.

The Highians captured eight gold medals to finish one gold ahead of SMK St Columba, Miri while in third place was SMK St Anthony, Sarikei with six gold, seven si lver and one bronze medals.

In the primary school section, SJK Taman Rajang captured 10 gold medals to pip SJK Chung Hua No. 3 to the first place with a superior medal count -- nine silvers and two silvers compared to the latter’s three silvers and two bronzes.

Third was SK Kenyalang who had nine gold, six silver and two bronze medals.

The kindergarten category was won by Tadika Chung Sing, Sibu after they collected four gold and two silver medals, follwed by Tadika Kasih Pesona Sibu ( 3- 0 - 0 ) , Smart Reader Kids, Kuching ( 1- 1- 0), Tadika Alpha Qdees, Kuching ( 1- 1- 0) and Tadika Q- Dees Budiman, Kuching ( 0-1-1).

Jointly organised by Wushu Federat ion of Sarawak and Kelab Wushu Permai Timur Sibu, the championship was aimed at unearthing potential athletes to be roped into the state backup and Sukma teams as well as provide a platform for the athletes to display their skills.
