Chung Hua alumni urged to donate items for History Chamber
KUCHING: The Committee of Management for Kuching Chung Hua Middle Schools (CHMS) No.1, 3 and 4 is calling upon alumni to donate schoolrelated items for its History Chamber.
Its chairman Datuk Richard Wee said the chamber would be dedicated to displaying exhibits including school textbooks, workbooks, emblems, certificates, trophies, student cards and brochures.
“We encourage them to donate these school-related items to us for the History Chamber which will be set up at the administrative block of CHMS No.1 that is now undergoing construction.
“If they do not wish to donate, we hope they can lend the items to us so that we can photocopy and keep (them) as exhibits,” he told a news conference at the Federation of Kuching-Samarahan-Serian Divisions Chinese Associations’ premises here yesterday.
Wee, who is also president of the federation, said the management committee has set up a pro tem committee to look into the establishment of the chamber.
According to him, the management committee has been taking care of the three schools for over 70 years.
As such, he believed that many historical items related to the schools could be gathered and exhibited in the chamber.
It is believed that the pro tem committee would take about two years to collect the exhibits.
This is because the ongoing construction at the administrative block has been scheduled for completion in less than two years.
Other school-related items such as old photos, school magazines, documents, letters, minutes of meetings and paper clippings are also welcomed.
Potential donors are advised to call 082-335368/336368 during office hours.
