Sri Minyak Group credits staff for excellent performance

-

SIBU: The Sri Minyak Group dedicated their last year’s impressive overall performance to their staff at all levels for their incredible team spirit and hard work.

This is because without teamwork and their high level of commitment, the group might not have been able to achieve the feat, said Sri Minyak Group general manager Stephen Tan.

“The most significant milestone for Sri Minyak Group in Year 2016 was the appointment by Shell Malaysia as the distributor for Shell lubricants throughout Sarawak. A big thank-you to Shell Malaysia for their precious trust through the award to us all.

“When the flowers are in full bloom we know that very shortly the fruits are coming as the quality and quantity are very much dependent on our daily team effort,” he said in his speech at the Sri Minyak Annual Dinner 2017 at RH Hotel here on Saturday.

He reminded those present that the present economic situation was very challenging as more and more lubricants of assorted brands and quality were entering the market.

“However, despite the difficult environment, we managed to achieve our target and hit the 105 per cent level. Once again, a big thank-you to everyone at all levels for the team spirit which has enabled us to achieve our target,” he said.

The executive chairman of Sri Minyak Group, Datuk S. William Tiu, and wife Datin Siew Kim Geok, the Business Development manager of Syarikat Sri Minyak Tenaga Sdn Bhd Amelia Tiu, Shell Timur Sdn Bhd general manager for Shell lubricants for Malaysia and Singapore Leslie Ng, business manager for Commercial Fuels Malaysia Borhan Zainal, sales manager for Shell lubricants East Malaysia Choo Sze Wee, Marketing Regional Commercial manager for East Malaysia Fred Anselmus and B2C sales manager Malaysia, Patricia Law, were present.

Stephen said that patience, persistence, diligence and commitment are not enough to be successful as they all need to uphold their precious team spirit at all levels towards achieving greater glory.

“With the 30 years of exposure in the market environment, our beloved Datuk S. William Tiu and wife Datin Siew Kim Geok have provided all the necessary local experiences, namely the wisdom and business hunch.

“Their precious personal touch on every single matter of importance is invaluable. In addition to that, we are fortunate to have the senior staff who are the rock upon which our business was built,” he pointed out.

Stephen called on all new staff members of Sri Minyak Group, especially sales personnel, to clinch their share of the lubricant market in Sarawak within the next six months.

“Such effort can only be realised with Shell’s global expertise, advice and guidance. It is, in a nutshell, a combo of local experience and global expertise to be successful,” he added.

He said the Sri Minyak Group operation now covers the whole of Sarawak and has branches in Kuching, Bintulu and very soon in Miri.

“Apart from that, we are currently working on expanding our fleet for the transportation of diesel and petrol to retail stations and customers. This entails additional personnel and tankers as well as a higher level of scheduling,” he added.

He said the main office in Sibu had gone through a transformation from multitasking to specialisation.

Meanwhile, the Sri Minyak Group Annual Dinner 2017 was a grand, glittery affair.

The evening was filled with lots of fun and exciting programmes such as the Top 10 Outstanding Employees Award, Best Employees of The Year 2016, dancing and lucky draws.
