IKHLAS Basic Term Takaful pays double

KUALA LUMPUR: Takaful Ikhlas Berhad ( Takaful IKHLAS), a wholly owned subsidiary of MNRB Holdings Berhad ( MNRB), has launched the IKHLAS Basic Term Takaful that provides protection­s in the event of death and Total and Permanent Disability ( TPD). In the event of death or TPD due to accident, the policy will pay twice the Takaful benefit from the original protection amount.

IKHLAS Basic Term Takaful consists of five different plans with different Takaful benefits. The product also offers total compensati­on up to RM300,000 for death benefit or TPD due to accident with the contributi­on amount from as low as RM64 a month, subject to the terms and conditions.

Meanwhile, the amount of benefit for death or TPD due to natural causes is up to RM150,000.

The president and chief executive officer of Takaful IKHLAS, Datuk Ab Latiff Abu Bakar said, “The product is unique as it is our first product which offers additional benefit towards death due to dengue in which an additional 50% of protection amount will be paid to the nominee or next of kin of the contributo­r.

The protection amount eligible to be claimed is up to RM225,000 ( based on five selected plans) for death due to the epidemic which is spreading in the country.”

According to the World Health Organizati­on ( WHO), 40 per cent of the world’s population is at risk to be infected with dengue outbreak. While the statistic produced by the Malaysian Ministry of Health shows that up until Dec 17, 2016, the death number due to dengue for 2016 has reached 230 cases throughout the nation.

Ab Latiff added: “IKHLAS Basic Term Takaful provides guaranteed subscripti­on renewal without re- underwriti­ng. It is the first Family Takaful product from Takaful IKHLAS having no commission charge.”

The contributi­on amount required to subscribe the product depends on the applicant’s age, selected duration, smoking status, gender and protection amount applied.
