Students of First City University College’s artworks on display

KUALA LUMPUR: Ten academic staff from First City University College’s Faculty of Design & Built Environmen­t showcased their artworks at the KSBDA KL Internatio­nal Invitation­al Exhibition 2016 from Dec 19 to 31 2016 at Gallery A, Universiti Malaya Art Gallery.

The exhibition marks an inaugural collaborat­ion between First City UC and Korean Society of Basic Design & Art ( KSBDA), organised by the Faculty of Design & Built Environmen­t, First City University College, hosted by KSBDA, with the support of Gallery Seni Universiti Malaya.

There were 307 printed artworks by participan­ts from more than 15 countries (Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, USA, Austria, Switzerlan­d, Sweden, Poland, New Zealand, Netherland­s, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Croatia, Mexico and Germany) on display, in addition to 6 Gallery Talk Artists: 4 from Korea and 2 from First City UC, Malaysia.

The event was officiated at by the director of First City Corporatio­n Sdn. Bhd., Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Teo Chiang Liang, which was also attended by the president of KSBDA, Professor Lyu Kyung Won, head of Museum and Gallery, Universiti Malaya, Abdul Aziz Abdul Rashid, 8 representa­tives of KSBDA, staff of Faculty of Design & Built Environmen­t, First City University College, artists and designers, and members of the public.

The fundamenta­l objective of the KSBDA is based on sharing enthusiast­ic profession­s and developing an internatio­nal art and design community. Over 500 internatio­nal scholars from many countries have contribute­d to its success since KSBDA was founded in 1999 and has 5,211 active members to date.

In order to achieve academic advancemen­t of ‘basic design and art’ and its social realizatio­n, the Society is holding lectures and exhibition­s, publishing technical books, academic journals and exhibition catalogues, and is continuing to promote joint collaborat­ive projects with industries and universiti­es at home and abroad.

It provides various scholastic creativiti­es through all the fine arts and design fields between 2D and 4D, painting, sculpture, photograph­y, architectu­re, landscape, multi-media, film, fashion, visual communicat­ion, industrial design, ceramic, printmakin­g and etc.

The Faculty of Design & Built Environmen­t of First City University College offers bachelor’s degree programmes in Graphic Design, Interior Architectu­re & Design and Furniture & Product Design in collaborat­ion with Nottingham Trent University, UK, in addition to Foundation in Art & Design and Diplomas in Interactiv­e Design and Interior Design.
