-

KUALA LUMPUR: It’s that time of the year again where Parkson and its partners spread the festive cheer to needy kids by gearing them up for school in 2017.

For 16 consecutive years, Parkson Corporation Sdn Bhd, along with Lion- Parkson Foundation and Yayasan Maha Karuna, have been actively involved in Parkson Cares Educare, an annual charitable project whereby essential school items such as school uniforms, bags, shoes and stationeries are distributed to needy school children in Malaysia.

Through Parkson’s Back To School Campaign, the projected collection amount for 2016 was RM 100,000 worth of merchandise for the needy school- going children. The collection period for Parkson Cares Educare 2016 took place between Nov 15 2016 and Jan 2 2017.

Lion- Parkson Foundation trustee, Dr Chua Siew Kiat, in his speech said, “Educare will not only reduce the financial burden of parents to purchase essential school items for their children for the coming new school term but also bring hope to many families. This will certainly encourage the students in their studies and use the opportunities provided to improve themselves in order to have a brighter future.”

In a symbolic ‘ handover’ ceremony in Parkson Maju Junction Shopping Mall, Parkson Corporation’s chief operating officer, Law Boon Eng handed over the donation items to deputy chief monk of Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple Sentul, Rev. Sri Wimala Thero, witnessed by Dr Chua and Parkson Maju Junction Mall store manager, Madam Suzie Parimalar.
