Production starts on ‘Eat in Kuching’ to promote S’wak
KUCHING: Production on ‘ Eat in Kuching’, a short film on local delicacies and cuisines found here, began yesterday.
It is Miri- born, Singaporebased TV producer Annie Goh’s second film project promoting Sarawak through food.
“It’s a beautiful place with such good food,” she told a press conference yesterday.
Goh said many have not heard of Sarawak or Kuching.
“Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia and yet hal f the people I work with in Singapore
Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia and yet half the people I work with in Singapore don’t know where it is. They keep confusing us with Kota Kinabalu.
don’t know where it is. They keep confusing us with Kota Kinabalu,” she said.
The crew will film in various restaurants as well as the Sarawak Cultural Village until Saturday and looks forward to continuous support from Sarawakians.
With a crew of 20, including two professional videographers from Johor, Goh is confident ‘ Eat in Kuching’, which is being directed by Mediacorp Singapore’s Alvin Giam, will be of much higher qual it y in terms of sound, cinematography and content compared to her first Sarawak food project ‘ Eat in Miri’.
She attributed this to support from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, which is producing the film.
“We will pass our production to F i n a s ( Nat iona l F i lm Development Corporat ion Malaysia), so Finas will produce everything for us, and it will depend on how they broadcast it,” said Goh.
She added that a film pre-launch would be held during the Asean International Film Festival and Awards (Aiffa) in May.
Among those present at the press conference were Kuching North Datuk Bandar Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai, Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, as well as Mediacorp Singapore senior artistes Christie Wong and Francis Yap.
