Finish SK Pulau Seduku project by Jan 30, contractor told

-

SRI AMAN: The Education Ministry has sternly reminded the appointed contractor of the SK Pulau Seduku project of its completion deadline this Jan 30.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Karim said she had been informed of the matter by the State Education Department during a visit to the project site recently.

It is said that project works had been delayed due to technical matters.

“I am hoping that the contractor could overcome any problem before Jan 30 – the date set by the government for the contractor to finish the job, which is about 90 per cent completed,” said the minister, who is also Batang Lupar MP.

The new primary school building will house classrooms, a teacher’s lounge and a surau, meant for the children of Pulau Seduku.

In addition, Rohani said the wish of the people of Lingga to have their own secondary school would be realised soon upon the completion of the SMK Lingga project.

“The construction commenced in 2015 with a budget of RM48 million approved in 2011 under the 10th Malaysia Plan,” she said, adding that the new school would solve the congestion problem at SMK Simanggang and SMK Sri Aman.

The new secondary school will have 18 classrooms, a hostel that can accommodate 200 boys and 200 girls, teacher’s quarters, surau, a hall and related facilities.

Rohani was accompanied by Lingga assemblywoman Simoi Peri and Sri Aman District Education Officer Vivien Mujah during the visit.
