Lodge International School proud with best AS results
KUCHING: Lodge International School’s students at Year 12 achieved the best Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level results in a decade of Lodge International School history.
The school in a statement yesterday said one out of three AS- Level candidates scored straight As in the examinations. This remarkable achievement is double that of the previous year’s record.
On the other hand, at the A- Level front, the school also celebrated a 96.8 per cent pass rate for the rigorous AS- Level examinations.
Apart from that, the school’s Class of 2016 maintained the Lodge tradition of excellence with their outstanding International General Certificate of Secondary Education ( IGCSE) results, achieving 100 per cent passes in 12 IGCSE subjects.
Overall, the candidates achieved 60.2 per cent distinctions for all subjects taken and continued to perform in Mathematics, Sciences and Information and Communicatio Technology ( ICT) subjects.
The candidates excelled in ICT where 87.5 per cent scored A or A* whereas for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, they scored 76.3 per cent (A or A*), 73.7 per cent (A or A*), and 67.6 per cent (A or A*) respectively.
For Mathematics and Additional Mathematics, there were close to 70 per cent of candidates who scored B or better.
Long known for their excellence in English Language curriculum, the students also showed excellence in English and Literature with 80 per cent scoring A or A* in First Language English, 87.5 per cent scoring B or better in English as a Second Language, and more than 50 per cent of candidates scoring A or A* in English literature.
One of their students Allegra Chan Qin Hur achieved an admiral 6A* and 1A in the IGCSE.

part of the pioneering team of Lodge students who represented Malaysia at the World Scholar’s Cup Tournament of Champions, held at Yale University in 2015. In this global academic competition, she was ranked the top 18th junior writer.
Amidst her busy preparation for the IGCSE, Allegra’s passion for the community remained.
In 2016, Allegra was part of the inaugural champion team at the Sime Darby Young Innovators Challenge. Her team’s winning proposal was to create an app that connects supermarkets with extra food to NGOs and charity organisations that provide food assistance to the urban poor and the homeless.
Meanwhile, Lodge International School principal Matthew Wee expressed his pride over the students’ achievements.
