Disrupted water supply in Asajaya being restored — JBALB

-

KUCHING: Asajaya sub- district water supply has been severely disrupted since Saturday (Jan14) but Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) has stepped up efforts to restore the water supply to normal.

JBALB said there were two major reasons behind the disruption. Firstly, the water supply in the area was suddenly shut down by unknown factors and the problem was only identified on Jan 15. JBALB did not specify what the problem was.

Secondly, there was a major pipe burst at the submarine main which was only identified on Jan 18 around 12pm with cooperation of the Kuching Water Board ( KWB).

JBALB will pursue the repair works as soon as possible and the supply is expected to be fully stabilised in two days, the department said in a press statement yesterday.

The affected areas are the whole Asajaya sub- district which includes Kampung Tambirat, Tanjung Apong, Kampung Sri Tajo, Kampung Moyan Laut, Kampung Serpan Laut, Kampung Reba, Kampung Asajaya Laut, Kampung Sebandi Matang, Kampung Sebandi Ulu, Kampung Moyan Ulu, Kampung Moyan Ledang, Kampung Seran Ulu, Pekan Asajaya and also KWB consumers at Kampung Semawang, Kampung Tajung Parang, Kampung Sungai Mata and Kampung Tambey.

JBALB apologised inconveniences caused.
