Singing contest at Riverside Shopping Complex

KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP) Youth Central is organising a singing contest at Riverside Shopping Complex on Jan 21 to usher the Chinese New Year celebratio­ns.

The contest is sponsored by Sara Urusharta Sdn Bhd and is open to all Mayaisans aged 17 years and below.

Assistant secretary of SUPP Youth Pending branch, Bryon Chang, said the contestant­s were free to choose any song of their choice but they must bring their own CDs for the competitio­n.

“Three judges will be there for the competitio­n and their decision is final,” he told a press conference at SUPP headquarte­rs here yesterday.

“All contestant­s will receive prizes including trophies for the top singers. There will be lucky draw with movie tickets for the prizes for the audience,” he added.

Chang said the event was meant for families to have a good time while doing their last minute shopping, It’s also an avenue for all Sarawakian­s regardless of race to come together to enjoy a festive atmosphere.

The competitio­n will start at 11am.

Chang said 25 contestant­s had so far registered for the competitio­n.

Registrati­on forms must be sent to Sarawak Plaza Informatio­n Counter before Jan18.

Last minute registrati­on is also possible.

Do it before 9.30am on the day of the contest.

The organising chairman of the singing contest is Cr Mok Chuang Ping.
