Senari Synergy known for environment programme
KUCHING: Senari Synergy’s bid to support quality environment has the company awarded the 5S certification by the Malaysian Productivity Corporation ( MPC) in a ceremony yesterday.
According to MPC directorgeneral Datuk Mohd Razali Hussan, productivity and quality improvement programmes such as the 5S are in line with the nation’s target of reaching a productivity level of 3.7 by 2020.
“MPC has embarked on various programmes to support this vision, where we had organised programmes such as lean management, resource wastage management and adding value to the programmes.
“We welcome the participation of the private sector towards this cause and also other programmes as well, such as the Industry Excellence Award,” he added.
Speaking at the ceremony, Senari Synergy Group managing director Jefri Ahmad Tambi said it was an honour to receive the 5S certification.
“We would like to thank MPC for their support to us in working towards a greater quality and safety environment.
“While 5S does not help in competition, it does provide a solid foundation for achieving operational excellence. In fact, some world class companies claim that there can be no improvement without 5S,” he added.
Jefri added that teamwork and discipline built through 5S improves worker to worker and worker to manager relationships, and the 5S system is not a one-time event.
“It is a continuous process of improving workplace. A round of awareness has already been completed and the management will stand by to provide all that is needed to ensure 5S is adopted at our workplace,” he said.
Four companies under Senari Synergy Group were presented with the 5S certification. They were Assar Refinery Services Sdn Bhd, Assar Senari Port Sdn Bhd, IOT Management Sdn Bhd and Tanjung Manis Oil Terminal Management Sdn Bhd.
