Volunteers donate CNY goodies to Hope Place

-

KUCHING: A group of volunteers calling themselves ‘Caring Society Group’ donated more than RM2,000 worth of Chinese New Year (CNY) goodies to Hope Place Kuching ( Hope Place) yesterday.

According to a press statement, the group’s representative Helen Jee delivered the donations of mandarin oranges, soft drinks, vegetables, canned food, cookies, mushrooms, eggs and cakes among others to Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan.

The volunteers also joined the Hope Place team to deliver food to four needy families under its care.

Currently, Hope Place is still short of children’s diapers (size L and XXL), Ensure and Enercal milk powder, Appeton milk powder, Nestle Nutren Diabetik Milk and Sustagen 6+ ( Vanilla) milk. All these are for the disabled and elderly.

Hope Place is a non-governmental organisation ( NGO) that visits poor and less fortunate families to contribute essential food items like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits, and noodles.

Many of these families or individuals barely earn enough to get through the month; hence, many are grateful for the relief provided by these basic necessities delivered to them.

For families with children with special needs, or with elderly or disabled people, Hope Place provides milk powder, oat and diapers as well.

Hope Place carries out their aid deliveries once every two months because of the many families on their recipients list.

For more information on how to help, Hope Place can be reached at 013- 5672775 ( hotline) and 082- 683378 (office) from 8.30am to 12pm and 2pm to 5pm, Mondays to Fridays, and 9am to noon only on Saturdays.

Alternatively, donors may also directly bank-in to Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching’s Maybank account no. 51128900-1160.
