KUCHING: Former students of SMK Serian’s classes of 1975 to 1979 will be holding a reunion dinner at New Chef’s Delicious in Mile 3 here on Feb 3.

A member of the organising committee, Boniface Lasek, said the gathering would be attended by about 100 people comprising past principals, teachers and Form 5 students during the period.

“We are working hard to trace all our former schoolmates from near and far with some residing in other states and overseas who have not seen one another for over 30 years by communicating through our WhatsApp group and the social media.

“We are calling upon those who were in the same batch as us to join us as we would like to have as many former students and teachers at this year’s gathering,” he said.

Boniface, who is Sarawak General Hospital public relations officer, added that many prominent figures who were also their schoolmates expected to attend the gathering would include Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus.

“The evening will be full with nostalgia, lots of fun and exciting activities including karaoke session and lucky draws. We hope our former schoolmates will not miss this opportunity to reminisce on our younger days,” he added.

Sponsors for the event include several individuals such as Kuan Chong Khi, David Bong, Lai Ah Moi, Liu Tow Kee and former principal Phang Chung Shin.

Former schoolmates who have yet to sign up can call Soon Mui Chai at 016-8964112 or Gilbert Yong at 016-8781688.
