CNY joy for 32 students of SK Lumba Kuda, thanks to 13 donors

-

KUCHING: Poor students studying at SK Lumba Kuda have received Chinese New Year donations from 13 Good Samaritans recently.

According to voluntary social worker Lim Chee Haw, the donation came in the form of food stuff such as rice, sugar, salt and other gifts.

On behalf of the donors, Lim delivered the items to the school’s principal John Selvaraj Perumal and two teachers, Ting Lee Peng and Chong Boon Kiat, for a total of 32 students.

“These donations are for the school’s students who come from poor and needy families regardless of race or religion. The Good Samaritans just want to share Chinese New Year joy with them,” he added.

Lim also disclosed the donors, who are Dato Seri Chan Leng Sam of 38 Food Street Sdn Bhd, Dato Tan Kia Heng, Chang Pei Foon, Chang Pei Hong, Chin Siew Ling, Chin Siew Moi, Gan Sze Yin, Lai Shiak Lee, Chang Pei Siang, Foo Swee Yean, Lim Syn Hui and Lau Yen Siew.

“Most who come to me want to donate to society due to obligations related to faith and religion and I am doing it too (for the sake of religion). To distribute these donations from Good Samaritans, I will find those who truly deserve help like the poor, needy members of society,” he said.

Lim said he could also assist the non-Muslim poor in acquiring caskets during times of bereavement, which is made possible through donations. For more information, contact Lim at tel: 082-248153 or 016-8070388.

Donations can also be anonymous. Lim also reminded the public that he does not have any Internet social media account. It has been a decade since Lim has chalked 600 acts of charity… and counting.
