SEBUYAU: The government is trying various means for people in rural and coastal areas to avail themselves of services provided by government departments and agencies.

Assistant Minister for Rural Economy (Coastal Areas) and Fisheries Datuk Julaihi Narawi said this was attributed to the challenges of logistic problems.

He said the mobile community transformation (CTC) programme was among programmes initiated by the government to reach the rural population.

“It is always the desire of the government to provide the necessary services and information to people in rural and coastal areas, and we are trying various means to do so,” he said at the launch of the mobile CTC programme at Dewan Pembangunan here yesterday.

The programme to provide services and information to the people was organised by Ministry of Finance, and participated by several government agencies under one roof. It is the first series of the programme for this year.

The Sebuyau assemblyman pointed out the importance of the mobile CTC in rural areas.

“I see this programme as very important as it promotes understanding and friendship among people of various races and religions besides providing services and information to people in rural areas,” he pointed out.

Such a programme can be a platform to provide business opportunities to locals.

Federal financial officer from the State Treasury, Mohd Saiful Sungkih Abdullah said the programme was among the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) initiatives to conduct various community activities.

Julaihi who is also Assistant Minister of Industrial Development (Investment and Promotion) said the government has also set up Urban Transformation Centres (UTCs) and Rural Transformation Centres (RTCs) to provide services to the people.
