Vipassana meditation at Matang Retreat Centre March 18-31

-

KUCHING: Matang Retreat Centre will hold a Vipassana Mindfulness Meditation Retreat from March 18 to 31.

The retreat will be guided by Brother Dassana, who has been practising Vipassana Meditation for the past 20 years, said a media release yesterday.

“He has done many years of retreats in Burma, Thailand and Malaysia under various teachers. Most of his retreats are in the Mahasi tradition, although he has also explored other traditions as well.

“He was previously a monk for 17 years which gave him the opportunity and time to study the theory and to do long intensive Vipassana retreats,” added the statement.

According to the statement, Vipassana or insight mindfulness meditation is about knowing the mind and body processes as they really are.

The practice emphasises self discipline, perseverance, clear awareness of bodily sensations and mental states.

The retreat is a stay-in programme with food and lodging provided.

Noble silence is the golden rule.

Interested individuals are advised to call 012-890 6993 or 016-893 7320 for more information or registration.

Meanwhile, members of the public are also invited to a talk ‘Building Up a Wholesome Mind’ to be conducted by Brother Dassana.

The talk is scheduled to take place at Kuching Buddhist Society at 8pm on March 17.
