14,366 applications from Santubong approved for BR1M 2017
LUNDU: A total of 14,366 applications from Santubong parliamentary constituency for the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) 2017 have been approved, involving an allocation of RM5.74 million, which will be disbursed in stages.
From the figure, Tanjong Datu state seat recorded the highest number with 6,962 followed by Demak Laut and Pantai Damai, with 3,727 and 3,677 respectively.
Santubong MP Dato Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar distributed BR1M vouchers to the first 484 recipients (Opar, 39, and Tanjong Datu, 445) at the civic centre here yesterday.
Wan Junaidi said BR1M was a social welfare scheme initiated by the government in assisting the people to ease their burden, particularly with the present economic situation.
“With the present global economy most countries are experiencing a downturn in their respective performance index and gross domestic product (GDP). However, under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak Malaysia is experiencing an economic growth and is developing steadily in most sectors despite receiving ill allegation from certain parties,” he said.
He added that according to the world indicator, Malaysia is on the right track in terms of its administration.
Wan Junaidi, who is also Minister of Natural Resource and Environment, urged the people to continue supporting the current leadership at both state and federal governments, in effort to address the economy and other challenges ahead.
“Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg is committed to address issues faced by the people such as the Native Customary Right (NCR) land.
“I am confident that the platform made by the chief minister will benefit the state at large, particularly the rural areas where all sorts of development are being channeled to.
“I want the people here to continue supporting the Barisan Nasional (BN) government and give their mandate to Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu to look after the constituency.
“Continue to give your support in the coming general election and help to retain Santubong as a BN stronghold,” he said.
Wan Junaidi’s wife Datin Seri Fiona Sim and Opar assemblyman Datuk Ranum Mina were also present at the function.
