SIBU: Bereavement care industry leader Nirvana Holding Berhad (Nirvana) Sibu branch made impressive turnover of RM22 million last year from RM18 million the previous year despite sluggish market conditions.

In disclosing this, Nirvana’s senior manager for Sibu and Kota Kinabalu branches, Stella Tang said the 22 per cent growth was attributed to all agents working together and the company’s backoffice staff who had struggled to excel.

“Thanks to our clients for their support and confidence over the years in our company.

“I’d like to congratulate the agents who have worked tirelessly to deserve the recognition and awards,” she said in her welcoming speech at Nirvana Sibu branch’s awards recognition night held for its agents at RH Hotel here on Friday.

According to Tang, Sibu branch with its memorial park was set up 14 years ago when the landscaped burial concept was still new to locals.

Today, more and more people are opting for its diversified products, drawn by its scenic cemetery landscape.

“We are continually upgrading our services and products to give peace of mind to our customers who put their trust in our company. We will not be complacent but continue to strive for excellence and perfection.”

On the economic situation, Tang said in the past few years, many people had complained about the sluggish market, difficult business environment, difficult to earn money, and life becoming increasingly difficult.

“But I believe that hard work, courage, perseverance and direction can help one overcome the difficulties,” she added.

Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee, who was guest-of-honour at the event, said Nirvana was recognised in the region for its full range of funeral services of international standard.

Knowing the impermanence of life, people still hold death in horror but ‘we want more people to understand the importance of planning ahead’ for one’s own funeral, rather than being evasive about it.

Advanced planning funeral service includes drawing up wills or trusts.

“We are pleased Nirvana does advanced planning that includes the promotion of filial piety, a practice which should be continued from generation to generation,” Hii said.

Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau and Nirvana’s executive director Huang Ching Huei were among those present.
