Forhil Sdn Bhd to build another road to Baleh dam
KAPIT: Forhil Sdn Bhd has been awarded the project to construct an additional road access to the proposed Baleh hydro electric dam.
The project is to upgrade the existing 112km timber logging road from Kapit town to Nanga Mujong and Sungai Serau, Ga’at besides upgrading of four bridges along the road.
The whole project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Sarawak Energy Berhad needs the alternative road to be built fast to transport heavy machinery and equipment to the proposed dam site.

available for the use of the Baleh hydro electric project contractors and suppliers by November 2017,” Anne Lenggang, a spokesperson of Forhil Sdn Bhd, said at the briefing and presentation of land/crop compensation to landowners affected by the alternative access road which was held recently at the Civic Centre here.
She said the additional land access will provide a safe and reliable route to the Baleh dam project site prior to the completion of the road on the north of Batang Baleh.
“It will also mean that the businesses and residents in Kapit will have better access to take advantage of the opportunities created by the Baleh hydro electric project. ForhiL anticipates significant job opportunities to be created through this and the Baleh hydro electric project and has commenced the recruitment process for personnel,” Anne added.

At the function, 45 land owners received compensation for their land and also crops affected by the project.
