KUCHING: A blueprint on the long term development of Serembu near here will be drafted soon.

Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh said the blueprint would be drawn based on inputs which were gathered during the community leaders’ symposium held last Saturday.

“The committee headed by the Bau District Officer will gather all the inputs and put them into a strategic planning.

“After that we will come out with the blueprint on Serembu development for the next 10 to 15 years,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.

Miro lauded the organiser for successfully organised the symposium, saying it served as a platform for everyone to gather

all the necessary inputs on how they want to develop Serembu in the future.

Some 210 participants comprising ketua masyarakat and village heads from 44 villages and housing estates, representatives from the non- governmental organisations and headmasters of all primary school within Serembu state constituency attended the symposium.

Miro said the symposium was also held to enhance the leadership and stewardship of all the community leaders as well as heads of NGOs and school heads within the constituency.

“It is also to equip them with the knowledge and ability to lead in this modern and vibrant era,” he said.

Miro called on all community leaders within his constituency to keep abreast with the latest development around them.

He said the community today, be it in the rural or urban, is being transformed through the use of modern technology and therefore it was imperative for all community leaders to also have the necessary knowledge on the use of modern gadgets and information and communication technology ( ICT).

He believed that through modern gadget, apps and Internet, the community leaders could also equip themselves with leadership and entrepreneurship skills and human relations.

However, he reminded them to always be sensitive and vigilant to happenings around them.

“While you must know how to access information well, you also must value it based on logic and practicality,” he said.

He also encouraged the community leaders to create a team to work with, and that the team members must be active players in sharing and coming out with constructive ideas.

“Your team must focus on three main agenda – education/ human capital development; infrastructure development and socio- economy – which are very important for the continued development of the community,” he said.
